MOSCOW, August 8Three upcoming concerts by American pop singer Taylor Swift in Vienna have been cancelled after Austrian security officials reported plans to carry out a terrorist attack at the stadium where she was scheduled to perform, Austrian event organiser Barracuda Music said.
Taylor Swift's Eras tour concerts were scheduled to take place in Vienna on August 8, 9 and 10 at the Ernst Happel stadium.
«Following confirmation from government officials of a planned terrorist attack at the Ernst Happel stadium, we have no choice but to cancel the three planned concerts (of Taylor Swift — ed.) for security reasons,» the organiser said in a statement on its official website.
The organizer noted that the money for concert tickets will be automatically returned to viewers within ten working days.
Earlier, the head of the Austrian Interior Ministry's Department for Public Security, Franz Ruf, reported that law enforcement officers in the Austrian city of Ternitz detained a 19-year-old Austrian citizen on Wednesday who is suspected of planning a terrorist attack in Vienna. According to security officials, his focus could have been on Taylor Swift's concert. Roof said the 19-year-old suspect «became radicalized» in July and «pledged allegiance to the current leader of ISIS*, and that explosives were found in his apartment.
