ST. PETERSBURG, August 10. The North-West Transport Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation after a boat on the Neva crashed into the mooring buoys of the cruiser Aurora, the department's press service reported.
Earlier, the transport department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation for the Northwestern Federal District reported that on Friday, closer to nightfall, the boat, whose captain lost control, fell on the chains of the ship's mooring buoys. The legendary cruiser was not damaged. The driver, a 45-year-old local resident, fled the scene. Later, the transport police clarified that he was taken to the St. Petersburg linear department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation for water transport for investigation.
«An investigation has been launched into the incident with the small vessel colliding with the cruiser Aurora,» said a representative of the North-West Transport Prosecutor's Office.
The transport police are also conducting an investigation, the department reported earlier.
The armored deck cruiser of the first rank «Aurora» is a monument to Russian shipbuilding, the history of the navy and the events of the Revolution of 1917 in Russia.
