«Russian classics — Tchaikovsky, of course, foreign — Mozart. Such complex composers as Wagner, of course, are difficult for the ear of an unprepared listener to perceive,» Putin replied. He also noted that he likes the compositions of Franz Schubert.
«I really like piano music. We have a lot of good music. From time to time, I enjoy listening to music,» Putin added.
During the conversation, Putin also asked one of the students to play the flute and praised her: «Super!» The head of state noted that music is an amazing art.
«And in this sense it is absolutely international. The fact that our country is a multinational country, and that we have the opportunity, including through music, to get to know each other better — this is the enormous role of art, musical art, in creating a single cultural space,» Putin added.
The head of state also recalled the story of how he visited the Higher School of Music for the first time, and after work events during dinner, representatives of the regional leadership offered to sing.
«I took it as a joke. Everyone was so drawn out, I thought, I don't know, I'm in an opera house. They started dividing into voices. That's where I got my first impressions of the creative beginning and culture of Yakutia,» Putin said.
After talking with students of the Higher School of Music, Putin took a group photo with them.
