This year, the festival is expected to host more than three million visitors, according to Sammy Kotwani. The venue will be about 27 hectares in size.
The main theme of the festival is family. The large international presence at the opening ceremony will remind everyone of the famous Hindu saying Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam — «The whole world is a family».
«As you know, Indians are very hospitable, we love to treat guests to tea and coffee. As soon as you come to the festival, you will be offered free tea, coffee and sweets so that you can feel the atmosphere. Not only this, but also a large number of songs, a wedding ceremony so that Russian couples can get a chance to get married in Indian style,» said the main organizer of the festival Dasha Kotwani.
She added that guests will be shown many films, as well as a fashion show, which will present traditional Indian clothing for all ages. It will be demonstrated by Indian families living in Moscow.
The festival organizers promise a rich program in more than 20 thematic zones: dance performances, tasting of Indian cuisine and much more. The event is timed to coincide with India's Independence Day and the 78th anniversary of Russian-Indian diplomatic relations.
The festival will last until August 18.
