Start of sales of business sedan Geely Preface in Russia: two versions, one engine

The four-door car of the Chinese brand is available on the Russian market in Luxury and Flagship versions, the prices are already known.

The local representative office of Geely announced the Preface for the Russian market at the end of last month, and its price was announced last week. Now sales of the business sedan in the Russian Federation have officially started. The four-door is available to Russians in two rather expensive trim levels, although there is only one “filling” – a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 7DCT.

Let us recall that the Chinese brand Geely presented the serial version of the Preface sedan on the domestic market back in 2020, where it is sold under the name Xingrui. Two years later, the model was modernized, and in 2023, the four-door underwent a more serious update. It was this version that was eventually sent for export, including reaching Russia.

In terms of dimensions, the Chinese business sedan is comparable to the four-door Toyota Camry, the production of which was previously established at the St. Petersburg plant. Thus, the length of the export version of the Geely Preface is 4825 mm (60 mm less than the Camry), the width is 1880 mm (40 mm more), the height is 1469 mm (14 mm more), and the distance between the axles is 2800 mm (25 mm less).

The Preface business sedan is based on the CMA (Compact Modular Architecture) platform, a joint development of Geely and Volvo (by the way, the Swedish brand belongs to the Chinese holding). The model offered on the Russian market is equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol four-cylinder engine. In the local specification, its output is 200 hp, and the maximum torque is 325 Nm. A seven-speed preselective automatic with two wet clutches is offered in pairs. The drive is only front. This four-door car needs 7.1 seconds to accelerate from zero to 100 km/h.

On the center console there is a selector for selecting one of the four driving modes provided — Eco, Comfort, Sport and Smart. The selected mode changes the speed of reaction to the gas pedal, the transmission algorithm and the force on the steering wheel. At the same time, Smart is an adaptive mode in which the car independently adapts to the driver’s driving style.

The recommended retail price of the starting version of Geely Preface is 2,999,990 rubles. Its list of equipment includes: 17-inch wheels, LED optics, light and rain sensors, heated windshield and washer nozzles, heated seats and steering wheel, dual-zone climate control, separate air vents for rear passengers, all-round cameras, six airbags, eco-leather interior trim, a 10.2-inch virtual instrument cluster and a 13.2-inch vertical multimedia tablet.

The cost of the top version of the business sedan, according to the price list, is 3,217,990 rubles. This four-door has 18-inch black wheels, adaptive cruise control, automatic braking systems, lane keeping, road sign recognition and automatic switching of headlights from high to low beam, there is also an assistant when driving on the highway, a front seat ventilation function and acoustics with 12 speakers.
