MOSCOW, August 17 The Moscow City Court sentenced a Russian to 6 years and 6 months for attempting to leave for Ukraine and join the «Russian Volunteer Corps»*.
«The court found Mikhail Rylov guilty under Articles 20 and 275 of the Russian Criminal Code (attempted treason) and sentenced him to 6 years and 6 months imprisonment,» the court said.
According to the Kommersant newspaper, Rylov was planning to illegally leave for Ukraine to join the ranks of the Russian Volunteer Corps (RVC)*. The newspaper also cites the defense's version that the convicted man was supposedly planning to move to Germany and find a high-paying job. The defense also notes that he was unfit for service, since he cannot hear without a special device.
