The Croatian company Rimac has prepared a hardcore R version of its Nevera electric supercar just in time for the Monterey Car Week festival in the US state of California: the peak power of the four-motor power plant has been increased to 2,136 hp, the aerodynamics have been improved, and the chassis has been reconfigured.
The Rimac Nevera debuted in the summer of 2021 as one of the world's most ambitious electric supercars. Many of its ambitions were subsequently realized: the Nevera set several records, including the highest top speed among production electric cars (412 km/h) and the fastest lap of the Nürburgring Nordschleife in its class.

Surprisingly, the outstanding dynamic qualities proven in practice did not help the Nevera’s market career — Mate Rimac was barely able to find buyers for all 150 copies of the supercar planned for release, since the public in the top echelon of the car market suddenly cooled towards “electric trains” and now prefers supercars with deliciously roaring internal combustion engines, such as the Bugatti Tourbillon.

The Nevera R is an attempt to increase the appeal of the original supercar, i.e. an improved version, focused primarily on the track, but still suitable for driving on public roads. The outer plumage of the carbon fiber body has been significantly reshaped so that on the one hand the Nevera becomes more elegant and aesthetically pleasing, and on the other — it receives more downforce and can attack corners even more aggressively. The new fixed wing instead of a movable one and a more efficient diffuser at the rear have increased downforce by 15% and reduced understeer by 10%.

New, sleeker-looking wheels (20-inch front, 21-inch rear) are wrapped in new Michelin Sport Cup 2 tires, which help improve lateral grip by 5 percent. In addition, the double wishbone suspension settings have been revised all round, the wheel alignment has been adjusted, and the negative camber has been increased – all of which is said to have contributed to improved handling. The carbon ceramic brakes are now even bigger and more efficient.

The four-motor powertrain's control program has been modified to accommodate the new tires and aerodynamics, while the maximum combined power of the electric motors has been increased from 1,914 to 2,136 hp — thus, the Rimac Nevera R has taken the title of the world's most powerful road supercar from the Lotus Evija. In addition, the Rimac Nevera R has a new, lighter and more energy-efficient battery with a capacity of 108 kWh instead of the previous 120 kWh. The estimated range on a single charge is 490 km according to the WLTP cycle. Nevera R accelerates to 100 km/h in 1.81 s, to 200 km/h in 4.38 s, to 300 km/h in 8.66 s, the maximum speed is the same 412 km/h.

Rimac will only release 40 units of the Nevera R, the price has not yet been announced, but given that the price of the «simple» Nevera started at 2 million euros, we can expect that the Nevera R will have to pay at least 2.5 million euros.
Meanwhile, according to motor1.com magazine, citing Mate Rimac himself, the company's next model will be a purely track-only single-seater supercar, technically unrelated to the Nevera.
