The British brand MG, owned by the Chinese automaker SAIC, showed the pre-production version of the Cyberster electric roadster for the first time, but this is not yet a full-fledged premiere , although the excitement seems to be going through the roof.
It was expected that the world premiere of MG Cyberster would take place in April as part of the Shanghai Motor Show, but then the British brand published only branded renderings of the production version of the novelty, but in the form The concept Cyberster, we recall, debuted in the spring of 2021 — it became the prologue to the turn of the British brand from Chinese consumer goods to elegant sports models in the best historical traditions of MG.
This week, Cyberster was finally shown live at MG Studios in London, although to a very limited circle of people, including representatives British magazines Autocar and Auto Express. A full public premiere is expected in July at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, and the electric roadster will be available on the European market in the summer of 2024, when the MG brand will celebrate its centennial anniversary with might and main.
British colleagues found out that the starting price of the MG Cyberster will be in the range of 50,000 to 55,000 pounds, but did not provide any new technical details, but only repeated what the Chinese Ministry of Industry had previously reported: the base MG Cyberster will have a single electric motor on the rear axles with a power of 231 kW (314 hp), and the combined output of the twin-engine all-wheel drive version will be 400 kW (544 hp). The flat battery is integrated into the floor, its capacity has not yet been disclosed, as well as the range on a single charge. >
Stylistically, the Cyberster gravitates towards the last genuinely British MG F/TF roadster, which was produced from 1995 to 2011 and was equipped only with gasoline engines, while the Cyberster is much larger and heavier than its historical ancestor. Cyberster overall length — 4535 mm, width — 1913 mm, height — 1329 mm, wheelbase — 2690 mm. The curb weight, depending on the modification, is 1850-1985 kg. Stock wheels — 19- or 20-inch (like the car in the photos).Salon — strictly double, folding roof — cloth. The interior design is shown for the first time in a large scale: the driver's seat is separated from the passenger's seat by a partition and a high central tunnel. The panoramic three-screen instrument panel pairs well with the truncated steering wheel without the top of the experience, but the standard round steering wheel will also be available as an alternative.

UK MG dealers are looking forward to the production Cyberster because customers already lined up and ready to buy thousands of roadsters on the move, but once the hype subsides, expected demand should be around 2,000 cars a year in the UK alone. Buyers from continental Europe are also waiting with great interest for the start of Cyberster sales, because it has almost no analogues in the segment of electric vehicles, and in the future, the all-electric Porsche 718 will be the main competitor of Cyberster, its market launch is scheduled for 2025.

MG Cyberster will also appear in China, but the European market for the roadster is a priority. We add that in the Celestial Empire, the MG brand has recently been offering sports models with gasoline engines — for example, the spectacular MG 7 liftback.
