The modernized SUV has reached the Indian market. There, the model is offered with three engines to choose from, including a diesel. But “their” SUV has only front-wheel drive.
It was in India that the world premiere of the serial compact crossover Kia Seltos took place four years ago. However, the restyled model is presented there only now, although such an SUV was launched in Korea, which is native to the brand, last summer, and the refreshed Seltos appeared in other major markets last spring. For India, the cross is produced locally, and «their» updated Kia Seltos turned out to have its own characteristics.

The “simple” versions outwardly generally repeat the cars for other countries (except that the “Indians” have a grille with a larger mesh), but the Indian “sported” Seltos GT Line and the “off-road” Seltos X Line have original bumpers on the bumpers. The “sporty” SUV was also distinguished by the exposed exhaust pipes, X’s feature is an extended black decor. What is common to all markets is a new grille (with luminous sections) and headlights, plus taillights in the form of a single die with “fangs”.

After restyling, the length of the Indian Kia Seltos has grown (now 4365 mm, +50 mm compared to its predecessor), but the crossover is still more compact than the global model (the length of the updated Korean SUV is 4390 mm). The wheelbase is the same 2610 mm against 2630 mm for the “world” SUV.As in other countries, in India, Seltos acquired a scoreboard, that is, a virtual tidy and a touchscreen of a multimedia system installed under one glass (each display with a diagonal of 10.25 inches). By the way, unlike the global cross-country, the local pre-reform Kia Seltos also had a multimedia screen “sticky”, but the devices themselves were recessed, besides, the “Indian” used to rely exclusively on analog scales. The upgraded crossover also got another “climate” control unit (the keys on it are located a little differently than on cars in other countries), in addition, a new position appeared in the list of equipment — a panoramic sunroof. Finally, the Indian Seltos received a set of electronic assistants, it includes adaptive cruise control, all-round cameras, lane marking and blind spot monitoring systems.
1/5 2/5 3/5 4/5 5/5The main technical innovation is the 1.5 T-GDI petrol turbo four (there is no such engine in other countries yet), which replaced the 1.4 T-GDI turbo engine. The output of the new engine is 160 hp. and 253 Nm against 140 hp and 242 Nm for its predecessor. Kia Seltos with 1.5 T-GDI is equipped with a 6iMT box (without a mechanical connection between the pedal and the clutch) or a seven-speed dual-clutch “robot” (in the pre-reform cross, the 1.4 T-GDI engine was combined with conventional mechanics or 7DCT). Also, SUVs with a 1.5 MPI (115 hp, 144 Nm) petrol aspirator and a 1.5 CRDi turbodiesel (116 hp, 250 Nm) will still be available to Indians: the first engine is paired with a 6MKP or an IVT variator, a diesel put 6iMT or a classic six-speed automatic. The Indian Seltos never had all-wheel drive, so the updated SUV is also exclusively front-wheel drive.
take pre-orders for the restyled Kia Seltos, but prices will be announced only in mid-July. A pre-reform crossover there cost from about 1,089,000 rupees, which is about 1,190,000 rubles at the current exchange rate.
