Due to the low base effect, the Russian new passenger car market continues to show positive dynamics. Thus, the increase in the first half of the year amounted to 14% (401,566 copies were sold).
According to the latest report from Avtostat, 82,407 new cars were sold in Russia in June. It should be noted that the agency uses information on the state registration of new cars in the Russian Federation, and not data on dealer shipments, which allows, among other things, to take into account copies imported under the parallel import scheme. June 2023 is 2.5 times higher than the same month last year (32,731 new cars were registered in June 2022).

It is worth noting that, according to analysts, the sales of new cars for the first summer month of this year turned out to be the highest in the last 15 months: the Russian car market has not risen higher since the spring of 2022.
The report says that in the first half of 2023, the Russian market went into plus. During this period, a total of 401,566 new passenger cars were sold. This result is 14% more than in January-June 2022 (then 352,129 units were sold. Positive dynamics for the specified period was recorded for the Russian Lada, as well as for brands from China. A quite predictable drop is noted for the Korean brands Kia and Hyundai , as well as the Japanese Toyota.

According to the results of June, Lada is the leader in the TOP-10 most demanded brands, the share of the brand in the Russian market is 28.9%. The list of best-selling models is still headed by Granta; the sixth and eighth lines are occupied by the Niva Travel and Niva Legend SUVs, respectively; And in June, Lada Vesta returned to the top ten — the model took the ninth place.

Silver in June at the Chinese brand Chery, which accounted for 12.2% of the Russian car market. From Cherie, Tiggo 7 Pro Max and Tiggo 4 Pro got into the TOP-10 models. The Celestial brand Haval closes the top three with a 10% market share, the Jolion crossover is on the list of the most popular models (it is in second place after Grants).
Chinese brands also occupy the fourth (Geely; share — 8.4%), fifth (Changan; 4.2%), sixth (Omoda; 4%) and eighth lines of the rating (Exeed; 3.7%). In seventh place is Kia (share in the Russian market — 3.8%), in ninth — Hyundai (3.2%), in tenth — Toyota (2.9%). Note that compared to the May TOP-10 models, Geely Tugella and Haval F7x disappeared from the list.

Recall, at the beginning of the past month, Avtostat published an updated forecast for 2023. According to the baseline scenario, about 815 thousand new passenger cars will be sold in the Russian Federation by the end of the current year (this figure is 30% more than the extremely low result of 2022). The pessimistic scenario assumes that Russians will buy about 780,000 new cars this year (an increase of 25%). And with the development according to the optimistic scenario, the result will be 850 thousand units (36% more).
