Inside, the new all-terrain vehicle basically repeated the related pickup, the difference is only in the details. It is curious that despite the impressive dimensions for the “five”, only a five-seat version has so far been announced.
The debut branded pictures of the new Haval frame SUV (then under the internal designation P04) were posted on the Web in March. Then there were certification and spy shots, in addition, the manufacturer announced the name of the upcoming model: the H5 index was revived for the SUV. And here's a fresh batch of signature images, with the Great Wall-owned brand showcasing the interior for the first time.

Recall that before the name H5 was worn by a car that was a modernized version of the Great Wall Hover. The original SUV debuted back in 2005, based on the Isuzu Axiom; later, the Hover H3 was made from the “just” Hover, followed by the Hover H5 with a different design. In Russia, the SUV was first produced as the Great Wall (Irito was responsible for the assembly), then under the DW Hower brand, already at the Stavropol-Avto plant (there was a connection with the Derways company at the level of the founders). And in 2020, the production of the Haval H5 was organized at the Tula plant, but the outdated all-terrain vehicle did not last long on the assembly line.
The new «five» is based on the Great Wall Poer KingKong pickup. In terms of appearance, headlights of a similar shape, the same embossed hood, mirrors and side stampings speak of a relationship with a truck. But the grille and taillights of the Haval H5 have their own. The length of the passenger all-terrain vehicle is 5190 mm, the width is 1905 mm, the height is 1835 mm, the distance between the axles is the same 3140 mm as that of the pickup truck (to be more precise, we are talking about the “short” King Kong).

Inside, the Haval H5 almost copied the donor pickup, except that the central tunnel was redone, plus a box selector appeared, like the Tank 300, and the screen of the multimedia system became larger (12.3 inches versus 10.25 inches for the Great Wall Poer KingKong). Well, they also replaced the finishing materials. In the documents of the Chinese Ministry of Industry, only a five-seat version was announced for the new SUV, but it is possible that a three-row SUV will also appear on sale later.
According to preliminary data, the Haval H5 will be offered with a 2.0 petrol turbo four (224 hp) and a turbodiesel of the same volume (166 or 197 hp). The boxes are likely to come from a sister pickup — a six-speed manual and automatic. Rear-wheel drive or hard-wired all-wheel drive.
In China, sales of the new SUV should start in the fourth quarter of this year, Haval has not yet announced export plans.
