Barmy Army's Simpsons-inspired meme of Stuart Broad's excellent score against David Warner shared by Chris Broad
cricketer will be penalized by match referee Chris Broad after he tweeted a photo mocking David Warner's record against his son Stewart.
On Friday, after Broad sacked Warner for the 17th time in Test cricket, Chris Broad tweeted a meme mocking the Aussie's record. Chris' posted image, originally posted by Barmy Army, England's main supporter group, shows The Simpsons character Bart Simpson with Warner's head writing lines on a chalkboard saying «Stuart Broad got me out again.»
Chris is currently time is the referee of ICC matches. It is understandable that the ICC is frustrated with his actions and this is not the kind of behavior they are leading on the part of an ICC official. This issue is currently being considered internally.
Broad has been a match referee since 2003 and is highly respected in the game. Although Broad has never officiated an Ashes match, he has often officiated games involving Australia.
Chris Broad played 26 test matches for England before becoming a match referee. He had a perfect record against Australia, going four centuries in eight Tests, averaging 58. Broad won three centuries in the 1986/87 Down Under series as England took a 2-1 victory.
His son Stewart has been a remarkable influence at Warner since Ashes began in 2019. In that time, Broad has sent off Warner 12 times at a cost of 8.5 apiece, thriving on bowling around the wicket against a left-hander.
Broad is approaching the record for most dismissals against any batsman. Only two bowlers have sacked an individual batsman more often in Test cricket: Alec Bedser sent off Arthur Morris 18 times in Ashes cricket, and Glenn McGrath sent off Michael Atherton 19 times.
At Headingley, Broad sacked Warner four times. in the first inning and one in the second, with Zach Crowley catching the Aussie in misses on both occasions.
