What a thought that was. Center Court is a little nostalgic, harking back to the sun-drenched highlands of the seventies, when racquets were wooden, hair was long, and shorts were shorts.

Well, apparently Wimbledon could. McEnroe told ESPN that his request was denied without a second thought. He was told that he needed to hold a tournament, there was no time for flim or flame. But if the two of them really wanted to put on their white again and have some fun, maybe they could go somewhere less crazy, somewhere away from the fight, in the middle of nowhere. Maybe like court number six? Short of suggesting they couldn't be serious, McEnroe turned down the offer. Not least because it's not entirely certain that neither he nor Borg, those Central Court elders, know exactly where Court Number Six is.
One thing about Wimbledon: no one can to break rules. Whoever they are, no matter how many titles they've won, no matter how much joy they've brought in some tournament.
