The German brand's SUV has shared the «stuffing» with related «charged» sedans and C-Class station wagons developed by AMG division.
The mid-size crossover Mercedes-Benz GLC appeared in 2015, and survived the update in 2019. The second generation model was introduced in early summer 2022. A modification with a coupe-shaped body and the addition of Coupe to the name appeared later — in mid-March of this year. Now it's the turn of the «charged» versions of the standard SUV: we are talking about the Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 and GLC 63 S E Performance.

«Hot» versions differ due to a number of exterior details. So, the AMG versions of the crossover received the signature Panamericana radiator grille with a pattern in the form of thin vertical lines and a large logo in the form of a three-pointed star. For the GLC 43 variant, the base are 19-inch “rollers”, cast-iron brake discs with a diameter of 370 mm at the front and four-piston calipers; while the GLC 63 is fitted with 20-inch wheels, 390mm carbon-ceramic brakes and six-piston calipers. Even in the older version, the lower part of the rear bumper looks different, it received a modified diffuser and trapezoidal exhaust pipes. >
In the interior of the Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 and GLC 63 S E Performance, a steering wheel trimmed in Nappa leather with a “flattened” bottom part is installed. The variant with index 43 has five driving modes, while the top version has eight. In addition, the latter has an active roll stabilization system, and it is also able to transfer up to 100% of traction to the rear axle, while the GLC 43 has this ratio fixed at 31:69.
The Mercedes-AMG GLC will be produced in the welcome series Edition 1 for the first year. These cars will be offered with a body in either graphite gray or silver. Such «charged» crossovers will also have bright yellow brake calipers, seat belts of the same color and decorative elements of interior trim.

The new Mercedes-AMG GLC shared the “stuffing” with related “charged” C-class sedans and station wagons, which were introduced in the spring (C 43 4Matic) and autumn (C 63 S) last year. This means that the V6 and V8 engines that were used in versions with indexes 43 and 63 have now been replaced with inline-fours.

The Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 crossover was equipped with a 421-horsepower 2.0-liter engine (500 Nm), which, as part of a mild hybrid installation, works in tandem with a 14-horsepower electric motor that acts as a starter-generator. Recall that the predecessor V6 produced 390 hp. and 520 Nm. A nine-speed automatic transmission is offered as a pair. The new SUV takes 4.8 seconds to accelerate from zero to 100, which is 0.1 seconds less than the previous generation GLC 43.
The GLC 63 S E Performance is equipped with a PHEV setup, which is based on a 2.0-liter M139L inline-four engine and an electric turbocharger. The motor produces 476 hp. and 545 Nm of torque, while the V8 predecessor boasted a return of 510 hp. and 700 Nm. The power of the electric motor on the rear axle is 204 hp. The combined output of this system in the new GLC 63 S E Performance is 680 hp, and the maximum torque is 1020 Nm. He gains the first “hundred” in 3.5 seconds (the indicator of the previous crossover is 3.8 seconds). The unit also includes a battery with a capacity of 6.1 kWh, the range on electric power alone for such a crossover is only 12 km.

Note that the German manufacturer will present charged versions of the Mercedes-AMG GLC Coupe later. Information on the prices of new products is not yet available. It is expected that the «younger» version will be the first to enter the market, and the top version will have to wait a bit.
