Sales of the new generation GAC GS8 started in Russia: prices and configurations

The crossover of the Chinese brand is presented in four versions, but with only one filling option. The starting price is 3,499,000 rubles.

Information that GAC is going to expand its Russian lineup with the second generation GS8 crossover appeared at the beginning of this year. It is worth noting that earlier these cars had already arrived in the Russian Federation, but then they were brought under the parallel import scheme legalized last year. Officially, the «celestial» company confirmed plans to bring a novelty to our market at the beginning of last week. And now, local prices and specifications for the new generation GS8 have been revealed.

It is worth recalling that in China, a new generation crossover was introduced back in 2021, and in the home market it is presented under the Trumpchi brand (in other countries, the manufacturer does not use this brand). During the generation change, the SUV moved to a new platform, and also received very noticeable changes in the exterior and interior. The new GAC GS8 has also grown in size: its length is 4980 mm, width — 1950 mm, height — 1780 mm, and the distance between the axles is 2920 mm. «/>

In the Russian Federation, an all-wheel drive crossover will be offered with only one “filling” option — we are talking about a gasoline 2.0-liter TGDI turbo four, which was deformed to 248 hp for the Russian Federation. (in China, this engine produces 252 hp). Its maximum torque remains the same — 400 Nm. The engine is mated to an eight-speed Aisin automatic transmission.

Note that in China, the second generation GAC GS8 is also offered as a hybrid, which is equipped with a power plant based on a 2.0-liter turbo engine operating on the Atkinson economy cycle; its return is 190 hp. and 320 Nm. It comes with an electromechanical variator from Toyota. The power of the front electric motor is 182 hp. (270 Nm), and the total output of the entire system is 237 hp. (391 Nm). There are also options with E-Four all-wheel drive, we are talking about a separate electric motor on the rear axle (54 hp, 121 Nm).

The crossover, which has officially reached the Russian market, has a three-row interior designed for seven riders. For the interior, three versions of leather trim were provided. The new GAC GS8 is presented in Russia in four trim levels — GL, GT, GX and GX Premium.

The basic version includes 19-inch wheels, ESP, cruise control, six airbags, a power tailgate, a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a rearview camera, three-zone climate control, heated front seats with power, as well as keyless entry and push-button start. The recommended retail price of such a crossover is 3,499,000 rubles.

The next GT version of the GAC GS8 adds a panoramic roof, adaptive head optics, adaptive cruise control, navigator, standard DVR, heated steering wheel and second-row seats. Even in such an SUV, the diagonal of the multimedia display is 14.6 inches, there is a system of all-round cameras, and the profile is decorated with 20-inch “rollers”. The price of the model according to the price list is 3,799,000 rubles.

Followed by the GX package with added electronic driver's assistants, quality sensor air in the cabin, a memory function for the electrical settings of the driver's seat, as well as a knee airbag for him. Another such SUV received an Alpine speaker system. The price tag of this option is 4,066,000 rubles.

In turn, the top version of the GX Premium differs only due to the presence of head lighting with a welcome function and an adaptive high beam control system. The purchase of this version of the new GAC GS8 will cost 4,099,000 rubles.

The predecessor — the first generation GAC GS8 — is still sold in the Russian Federation. According to the price list on the local official website of the brand, its retail price ranges from 2,989,000 to 3,789,000 rubles.
