French company Bugatti Automobiles has announced that it will introduce an all-new model in 2024 and enter production in 2026. In addition, the company has changed its chief designer: the retiring German Achim Anscheidt has been replaced by 44-year-old Briton Frank Hale.
The Bugatti Chiron supercar, equipped with the legendary 8.0-liter W16 engine with four turbochargers, was produced from 2016 to 2022, the last example was the unique Chiron Profilee, sold in February this year at RM Sotheby's auction for 9,792,500 euros. On the Chiron platform, in addition, several separate models were released, including Divo, La Voiture Noire, Centodieci and Mistral. Unveiled last August, the Bugatti W16 Mistral was the last to carry the Chiron platform and the W16 engine, so now the Bugatti engineering and design team can focus entirely on the new base model, whose name is still secret.
/>Bugatti ChironThe design of the new supercar has already been completed, in connection with which Bugatti chief designer Achim Anscheidt can easily retire and make way for a younger colleague Frank Hale. Anscheidt, however, will continue to be in touch with the company as an adviser to Mate Rimac, CEO of the Bugatti Rimac joint venture. Recall that this joint venture was formed in 2021, after the Volkswagen concern decided to send the Bugatti brand into free float.

Achim Anscheidt worked at Bugatti for nineteen years, meaning the Chiron and all its derivatives were developed under him. The image of the new Bugatti supercar, which, as it turned out, has been underway for two years, is also formed under the supervision of Anscheidt, and Frank Hale will bring the novelty to mass production, it will begin in 2026.
The official press release does not say anything about the technical stuffing of Chiron's successor, but according to the British magazine Autocar, its power hybrid power plant will be built around a V8 gasoline engine. A full transition to electric traction is already the next stage in the history of Bugatti, it should be expected after 2030.
A completely new chassis and bodywork have been developed for the hybrid supercar. There will be continuity in design with the Chiron, while the new supercar has more swift and athletic proportions. You should not expect radical changes in the cabin, but the new model will still receive a central multimedia screen (Chiron did not have one).
Well, of course, the new Bugatti will be small-circulation and very expensive — interested customers should focus on a minimum price of around 5 million euros, which is twice as much as they asked for the Chiron «at the minimum».
