Committee for the Protection of Communities Chairman Tobias Ellwood in a still from his video about Afghanistan. Liban for fighting opium and corruption after he faced criticism from fellow MPs.
The Chairman of the Committee for the Protection of Communities was condemned by another conservative member of the inter-party group for a «very bizarre» clip «praising» the Taliban's governance in Afghanistan.
Chief Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid praised the «positive» report of Mr. Elwood from Helmand province, who MP has now deleted from Twitter.
p>Mr Ellwood, a former Secretary of Defense who served in the army, acknowledged that «the video could have been better.»
The MP for East Bournemouth told TalkTV's Piers Morgan, uncensored: «It's important to raise your hand and admit mistakes, no matter how well-intentioned they may be.
«I stand up, I speak my mind. I'm trying to find solutions, especially in the international arena, and I'm very, very sorry that my reflections on my visit could have been worded much better and taken out of context.» I was wrong.”

Former Conservative Defense Secretary Marc Francois accused Mr Ellwood in the House of Commons on Wednesday of «praising the rule of the Taliban in Afghanistan» and asked Mr Sunak: «May I clarify that this was not done on our behalf, and can I get assurances from the Prime Minister that this stupid and naive act was not done on his behalf?»
“The Prime Minister mentioned our armed forces, may I mention them again. We lost 457 soldiers in Afghanistan killed and several thousand wounded, which changed their lives.”
Mr. François, a member of the Defense Committee, added that he and some of his colleagues were «absolutely stunned» to see Mr. Ellwood's video, which he says praises the Taliban, «not to mention that they are still trying to identify and kill Afghan civilians who have sided with NATO forces, and also not to mention the fact that they don't like girls going to school.»
Mr. Su Nach responded by saying that the UK government has «repeatedly and will continue to repeatedly call for the human rights violations that we are seeing around the world.»
He told MPs: «I join (Mr François) in paying respect to our brave servicemen and veterans and thank them for their service … and we have repeatedly and will continue to repeatedly call for the human rights violations that we are seeing around the world, and he rightly mentions the ban on women's education in Afghanistan, which we spoke about in the past .
«We will also continue the dialogue with the regimes, this does not mean that we consider these regimes legitimate or approve of their actions, but all this, as he will understand, is part of the establishment of a normal diplomatic presence in countries when the situation allows, but I will gladly consider the specific case that he raised.»
