According to preliminary data, a pre-production concept showing the evolution of the American brand's design will appear in 2024, and the commercial version of the new product will be presented in 2025
Today, Chrysler is one of the brands of the multi-brand auto giant Stellantis, which appeared in early 2021 as a result of the merger of the PSA group and the FCA concern. Chrysler is currently working on expanding its modest lineup (so far it includes the Pacifica minivan and the outgoing 300 sedan), but so far, progress has been slow.

So, the first version debuted in 2020, and the “evolved” concept appeared in 2022. It was supposed to be finalized to a serial crossover that could compete for customers with the Tesla Model Y.

In May of this year, the media reported that the company abandoned plans for the production of a serial crossover based on the Airflow concept. As noted then, allegedly the brand management considered that Chrysler needed a novelty created from scratch. Ralph Gilles, head of design at Stellantis, and his team were put in charge of the task.

Curiously, but now, after a few months, there is new information on this issue: Ralph Gilles decided to clarify some points that, according to him, were “misunderstood”. So, he noted that the company will continue to work with a concept that will demonstrate the evolution of Chrysler design (it is expected that the new show car will be shown in 2024), and subsequently they will create a production model based on it (it will probably debut in 2025). ).

The head of the design department explained that the product version will be different from those concepts that have previously been shown to the general public. According to him, the design of the novelty will reflect a «fresh direction» for the brand's corporate identity. According to him, the model may not receive the revived Airflow name (it was used for the brand's four- and two-door cars produced between 1934 and 1937). It was previously noted that the company is thinking about a new name for the future model (it is known that it will not have an “index” name).

According to preliminary data, the so far unnamed novelty by Chrysler will be based on the STLA Large modular platform. It is supposed to be an all-electric crossover. Such a model is likely to have a power reserve on a single charge of about 645 km.
By the way, this «controversial» novelty is not the only development of the brand. Last spring, information appeared on the Web that Chrysler was preparing a model that would become the successor to the 300th. It is expected that such a car will borrow some of the solutions from the Dodge Charger Daytona SRT concept.
