According to media reports, Mr. Lucidi arrived at the Tregunter building at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, telling a security guard that he was visiting a friend on the 40th floor, although the named resident has since denied knowing him.
CCTV footage showed the climber took the elevator to the 49th floor and then up the stairs to level 68 before breaking open the door to the roof.

The Frenchman stayed at a hostel in the city's Tsim Sha Tsui area. Gurjit Kaur, the owner of the hostel, told SCMP that he was «friendly and humble», adding that he was healthy and in good shape. «I'm very sad,» she said.
Police are investigating whether Mr. Lucidi died doing extreme sports.

His last post, published a week ago, shows a view of the Hong Kong skyline from a rooftop at night, taken from Times Square in the center of Causeway Bay.
Fans took to his account to pay their respects and express their shock and sadness.
“Bro went to do what he loves! He lived his life to the fullest. Not many people can say that,” said one of them.
