Four Leaf Clover Architecture includes an integrated computing platform capable of managing all intelligent functions, including autonomous electric vehicle driving and intelligent cabin functions, Leapmotor CEO Zhu Jiangming told reporters in Shanghai.
The company hopes to sell the platform to other automakers through technology licensing agreements.
«We hope Leapmotor will become not only an electric vehicle brand, but also a core technology licensor,» — Zhu said.
Companies in the automotive sector use the terms «platform» and «architecture» to describe the basic engineering and design that defines the size, weight, and key performance elements of a car.
Leapmotor's senior engineer revealed at the event that the firm has achieved cost savings with the architecture by reducing the use of controls and wiring harnesses, and Zhu said it would cut the cost of materials per car by 500 yuan ($70).
According to Zhu, the company is already planning to launch the next generation of the platform in 2025, which will include improvements in computing capabilities and smart booths.
