Experts from the British edition of Whatcar.com, in collaboration with the insurance company MotorEasy, have identified which models in the secondary market are best to avoid.
A study based on a survey of 25,000 people. owners, showed that among the most problematic SUVs in the secondary market, it is worth noting the Land Rover Discovery, released in the period from 2004 to 2017 . Over the past two years, the owners of this model have contacted a car service in 46% of cases. The most common causes were problems with battery, brakes, engine, fuel system and suspension.
The second place on the list was the Nissan X-Trail crossover, which was produced from 2004 to 2017 year. 45% of owners experienced problems with this model, and the most common complaints were air conditioning, battery, brakes, electrics, exhaust system and transmission.
The French crossover Peugeot 2008, released in the period from 2013 to 2019 , ranked third in the list of unreliable models with a result 44% of negative reviews. The main complaints of the owners are related to problems in the exhaust system and suspension.
Experts also singled out Land Rover Discovery Sport (from 2014 release) and Range Rover Evoque (from 2011 to 2019 ) as unreliable models. In the first case, the most common problems were the engine and exhaust system, in the second — electrics, air conditioning, exhaust system and body.
Also, the list of problematic crossovers in the secondary market includes Nissan Qashqai (2014-2021), Audi Q7 (2006–2015), Hyundai Santa Fe (2013-2018), Ford Kuga (2008-2013), Volkswagen Tiguan (2007-2016), BMW X1 (2009-2015) and Kia Sorento (2010 –2015 years). Problems ranged from suspension and brake problems to media systems and fuel system.
