The Encore GX compact crossover got a new prefix in the name in China, in addition, the model got a 1.5 petrol turbo four. But in the States, the SUV has retained both the previous index and the turbo threes 1.2 and 1.3.
In the photo of the Ministry of Industry of China, the restyled five-door Buick Encore GX lit up last fall. However, the United States became the debut market for such an SUV (cars appeared at local dealers in the spring of 2023), although China has been the first to receive all brand premieres in recent years. The fact is that in the States Encore GX is Buick's bestseller, but in the Middle Kingdom it is not in demand: in the current year, cross-country sales were even paused there, removing the model from the brand's consumer website. And now the SUV is returning to China — in a modernized form. Only now it is positioned as an «all-new compact SUV» with the Encore Plus name. Well, let us recall that the original model has been in service since 2019, it is the closest relative of the Chevrolet Trailblazer crossover, which, by the way, also failed in China (the Chevy SUV eventually left China).
Buick Encore Plus for China
The appearance of the Buick Encore Plus has been changed in accordance with the new corporate identity of the brand: the cross received a “shark nose” and two-story head optics (curved running lights are located on top, the main headlight blocks go below). The grille and front bumper also became others. The rear lights have the same shape, but the filling is different. In America, Encore GX, after restyling, also found a “luxury” version of Avenir, but this has not been announced for the Chinese Encore Plus — at least not yet.
The length of the «celestial» Plus is 4458 mm, width — 1813 mm, height — 1644 mm, wheelbase — 2640 mm. Cross fit 17- or 18-inch wheels.

In the cabin of the Buick Encore Plus, instead of analog instruments and a separate multimedia screen, there is now a scoreboard that rises above the new front panel. Moreover, in the Chinese cross, each display has a diagonal of 10.25 inches, while in the States the Encore GX has an 8-inch virtual instrument cluster. The steering wheel was also replaced, but the climate control unit is the same. The full composition of the trim levels has not yet been disclosed, but, most likely, as in the United States, the crossover's arsenal includes adaptive cruise control, auto-braking and marking tracking systems.

The engine is combined with a variator. The all-wheel drive version, apparently, no longer exists, although in America the 4WD option remains (the pre-reform Chinese Encore GX with all-wheel drive was equipped with a nine-speed automatic).
Buick Encore Plus will enter the Chinese market in the near future , prices have not yet been announced. In the US, the updated Encore GX starts at $25,600 (excluding taxes and shipping).
