As part of the Chengdu Auto Show that opened today, another public demonstration of the Tank 400 mid-size frame SUV took place and pre-orders started. So far, the novelty is offered only with the Hi4-T plug-in hybrid powertrain.
In the form of a concept, the Tank 400 was presented exactly two years ago here in Chengdu, its path to the consumer by the standards of the Chinese market was greatly delayed, but shipments should finally begin in the coming months. As part of today's presentation, preliminary prices for a version with a plug-in hybrid power plant were announced, later a more democratic modification with a gasoline turbo engine will appear. The hybrid at the pre-order stage costs from 285,000 yuan yuan (4.34 million rubles). Moreover, our experience of observing the Chinese market shows that the real prices for new items, as a rule, turn out to be lower than the preliminary ones.

Overall length of Tank 400 is 4985 mm, width is 1960 mm, height is 1900 mm, wheelbase is 2850 mm, ground clearance is 224 mm, approach angle is 33 degrees, exit angle is 30 degrees, fording depth is 800 mm. The Hi4-T hybrid powerplant of the Tank 400 is exactly the same as that of the Tank 500, and it is more conservative than the latest Haval Raptor: the Tank has only one electric motor, it is implanted in a 9-speed automatic transmission and produces a maximum of 120 kW (163 hp) and 400 Nm. The automatic transmission is docked to a 2.0-liter petrol turbo engine (245 hp, 380 Nm). The maximum cumulative output of the power plant is 300 kW (408 hp) and 750 Nm. The capacity of the battery installed above the rear axle is 37.1 kWh, its full charge is enough for 105 km of the WLTP cycle. Salon because of this battery is strictly 5-seater.
The all-wheel drive system of the Tank 400 is also quite traditional: power to the front axle is taken by an electronically controlled multi-plate clutch, there is a reduction gear in the transfer case, forced locks are provided for the cross-axle differentials. The 400th is the third model of the young Tank brand, the parent company Great Wall launched it in 2021. The first two models — Tank 300 and Tank 500 — are already on the Russian market, the appearance of the Tank 400 in our country is a matter of time, but it is hardly worth waiting for before 2024.
