The new off-road body kit has significantly changed the «herbivorous» image of the Geely Panda Mini hatchback, it should expand the already considerable audience of this model.
Inexpensive and very cute-looking urban electric hatchback Panda Mini was introduced at the end of last year under the sub-brand Geome, Geely developed it in defiance of the Wuling Hongguang Mini EV, which became the most popular electric vehicle in the Chinese market in 2022. Other large Chinese companies also released their counterparts Wuling Hongguang Mini EV, but Geely Panda Mini was more successful than many: in January-July, according to CAAM (China Automobile Manufacturers Association), 49,786 units were sold, now Panda Mini ranks third in the segment of small urban electric vehicles after Wuling Hongguang Mini EV (137,536 units sold in January-July) and Changan Lumin (64,984 units). Other competitors, including the newly updated Chery QQ, are left behind.
Geely wants to strengthen the peppy market debut of the Panda Mini with a new “off-road” version, made in defiance of another novelty in the segment – the Baojun Yep cross-hatchback, which was originally stylized as an SUV. It should be understood that these models have off-road only design and image, technical characteristics remain at the level of urban hatchbacks, so there can be no talk of any forays into the wild — they are just such city slickers.

The new version of Panda Mini was named Knight, which translates from English as «knight». A protective plastic body kit and new, more angular bumpers make the hatchback look more masculine, the front bumper is also decorated with two massive towing loops. The hood is equipped with handrails, the roof with roof rails, the tailgate with a spoiler, the sidewalls with ladders leading to the roof. A new wheel design and a new design of a false radiator grille with a charging hatch have been developed — from the front, an “off-road” Panda Mini can be mistaken for a Ford Bronco! .jpg» />In the “knightly” body kit, the Panda Mini has slightly increased in size, the overall length of the Knight version is 3135 mm, the width is 1565 mm, the height is 1655 mm, the wheelbase is 2015 mm. Ground clearance in empty condition — 175 mm, under full load — 125 mm. The four-seat interior is the same as the standard hatchback, but the finish has become a little more colorful. The flattened instrument screen has a diagonal of 9.2 inches, the multimedia screen is 8 inches. Trunk volume — 69 l, with rear seats folded — 800 l.

The power plant of the Knight version is standard: the only electric motor is docked to the rear driving solid axle, its maximum output is 30 kW (41 hp) and 110 Nm, a battery with a capacity of 17.03 kWh provides about 200 km of CLTC cycle on a single charge. The top speed is limited to 100 km/h.
Panda Mini Knight will go on sale in September, prices not yet announced. A regular Panda Mini starts at 29,900 yuan in China (388,000 rubles in current exchange rates), but this is the basic version with a 20-kilowatt electric motor and a 9.61 kWh battery. A hatchback with the same power plant as the «knight» costs from 49,900 yuan (648,000 rubles).
