Nottingham Forest has filed a formal complaint with the PGMOL referees after expressing «anger» over Stuart Attwell and his officials' performance in Saturday's loss to Manchester United.
Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis and head coach Steve Cooper are still furious after the club's controversial 3-2 defeat at Old Trafford.Marinakis has instructed Forest officials to convey their concerns to PGMOL chief Howard Webb after a series of bad decisions went against his team and the Greek businessman is now ready to take action on what he believes is a consistently low standard.
< p>Joe Worrall was sent off for challenging United captain Bruno Fernandes in the second half outside the box and Attwell's decision was upheld by Var as Forest's skipper was named last player, although Willy Boly appeared to be a covering defender who could to mitigate the punishment.
Marcus Rashford was then brought down by Forest midfielder Danilo, while United substitute Scott McTominay received only a yellow card for kicking Cheikh Kouyate in the face.
Forest's concerns about Attwell's performance are believed to be related with the behavior of the referee in the 2021/22 Championship game against Bournemouth when a penalty was awarded to former striker Sam Surridge after an incorrect offside decision was made against him.
Saturday game at Old Trafford was Attwell's first game at Forest since the match in May 2022.
This is also the second game in a row at Old Trafford in which the opposing manager was upset by refereeing decisions. after United goalkeeper Andre Onana fouled Wolverhampton striker Sascha Kalajic and a penalty was not awarded, leaving Gary O'Neil in disarray.
Marinakis was still furious on Monday in the morning and the club expressed its anger in an email sent to PGMOL.
