Burnout, or slipping, is a maneuver in which the driver deliberately forces the rear wheels of his car to spin in place, causing tire friction on the asphalt and, as a result, the formation of smoke. The publication SPEEDME.RU explained which sections of the traffic rules this violation fits under.
Drivers in Russia who commit a burnout may be issued fines, the amount of which depends on the seriousness of the violation and the place where it was committed. These fines can range from small amounts to significant amounts, reaching several tens of thousands of rubles, depending on the degree of violation.
In addition, for the burnout, motorists face temporary deprivation of their driver's license. The duration of such deprivation is also determined by the court and can be up to two years for the first violation.
In some cases, the court may decide to apply administrative arrest or even confiscation of the car used to commit the burnout as additional penalties.
In case of more serious consequences, such as accidents with injured or fatal, or in case of repeated violations of the Traffic Rules, the driver may be held criminally liable.
