In foreign markets, an SUV with a spectacular design is still available with only one engine, while in its homeland the range is wider.
In China, sales of this Geely crossover started last fall, where it bears the name Boyue L, and is considered the second generation of the model, which is now presented in our country under the name Atlas Pro, and in other markets is known as Azkarra. Now the Elka is starting an export career: the SUV is available for order in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. It’s just that such an SUV is positioned abroad as a completely new separate model with the name Starray.
Meanwhile, at the beginning of this year, Geely registered the trade name Starray in Russia, but for some reason local media then assumed that it would go to the export version of the Preface sedan (Chinese name — Xingrui). The four-door was never delivered to us, but in mid-September a certificate for a certain Geely model with the factory designation FX11 appeared in the Rosstandart database — and it was under this designation that the company initially promoted the Boyue L/Starray in its homeland. Alas, OTTS new cars are no longer made available for free access in the Russian Federation. But if you add up the registered name and the FX11 index, then it turns out that the chances of a new crossover appearing in Russia are very high, as well as the fact that in our country it will also turn out to be a separate model. However, let's return to the Middle Eastern Geely Starray.

The SUV is based on the CMA (Compact Modular Architecture) platform, created by the Chinese together with Volvo (the Swedish brand is owned by Geely). By the way, the Geely Monjaro and Tugella crossovers are based on the same “trolley”. The length of the Boyue L/Starray is 4670 mm, width – 1900 mm, height – 1705 mm, distance between the axles – 2777 mm. For comparison, the dimensions of the current Russian Atlas Pro: 4544/1831/1713 mm, wheelbase — 2670 mm.
In terms of design, the export SUV repeated the version for China. The appearance features of the Geely Starray are compact headlights merged with the radiator grille, fanged running lights (in addition, they are combined with luminous “strokes”), aggressive bumpers and boomerang lights. The SUV is equipped with 18-, 19- or 20-inch wheels.

The main feature inside is the vertical tablet of the multimedia system (13.2 inches), and in the Middle East it is already included in the base, as is the virtual tidy (10.25 inches). The list of equipment of the cheapest Starray also includes single-zone climate control, rear parking sensors, a keyless entry system and an engine start button, and cruise control. It is curious that in Saudi Arabia the basic cross also has a rear view camera, but in Kuwait it does not. The “medium” configuration includes front parking sensors, dual-zone climate control, wireless charging for a smartphone, a panoramic sunroof, all-round cameras, adaptive cruise, auto-braking and lane-marking systems. The top-end Geely Starray also includes ventilated front seats, a head-up display and an electric tailgate.
The Middle Eastern crossover is currently available with one engine — a 2.0 petrol turbo-four with 218 hp. (350 Nm), which is combined with a seven-speed robotic gearbox with two clutches. Front-wheel drive only. It is stated that the Geely Starray will reach the first “hundred” in 8.2 seconds. In China, the SUV is offered with the same engine; in addition, there you can buy a model with a 1.5 turbo-four (181 hp, 290 Nm), as well as in the form of a hybrid with an installation based on a 1.5-liter turbo-four. But there is no all-wheel drive in our homeland either.
Translated into our money at the current exchange rate in In Kuwait, the price of the Geely Starray starts at approximately 2,270,000 rubles; in Saudi Arabia, the crossover costs somewhere from 2,500,000 rubles. Probably, later the new SUV will appear in other countries of the Middle East, as well as in Latin America. As for Russia, Starray is unlikely to be brought to us this year.
