Rishi Sunak: I prefer Oppenheimer's film to Barbie

Rishi Sunak said he preferred Oppenheimer to the Barbie movie — and that he once dressed up as Harry Potter for a costume party.

The Prime Minister has given his verdict on this summer's Barbenheimer debate has divided moviegoers across the country. < /p>

Appearing on the This Morning sofa on Friday, he also revealed that he was hooked on Netflix's new documentary about David Beckham.

Mr Sunak made the remarks during a quick round of questions after defending his decision to ban smoking and abandon the northern part of HS2.

Asked whether he preferred Oppenheimer or Barbie, both films were released in July, he replied: “I preferred the Oppenheimer movie, but I liked going to see Barbie.”

“We had a family outing with Barbie with my girls, which I didn’t do.” for years, it's been great.»

In July, he tweeted a photo of himself with his wife Akshata Murthy and two daughters (all three of whom wore pink) at a Barbie fashion show.

The Prime Minister said they were holding hands. voting on which film to watch first, adding: «The family vote has always gone one way.»

He was also asked whether he preferred Big Brother or I'm a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here ! but dodged the question by saying he was watching a documentary about Beckham.

“I grew up watching Big Brother, but now I started watching the Netflix documentary about Beckham,” he said.

Mr Sunak said he saved the episodes to watch after the Tory party conference, adding it was an «absolutely brilliant experience of my childhood.»

< p>During the interview, he was asked which fancy dress would he prefer as Halloween approaches later this month.

The Prime Minister said, “Akshata and I went to a party for the first time. together it was a Halloween party when we were in the States.

“She went as a Girl Guide and I went as Harry Potter.”

The interview comes amid renewed efforts by Mr Sunak to shed his technocrat image and show voters a more human side.

This is partly due to a more visible role for Ms Murthy, who gave a warm-up speech to the Prime Minister ahead of his speech to the Conservative conference.

In her seven-minute speech, she paid tribute to him as her «best friend» and joked about her much-publicised love of romantic comedies.

Mr Sunak said he didn't know his wife was even going to appear on stage and that it was «kept a secret from me until very late».

“I didn’t find out until very late that she was doing something, and the first time I heard her was when I was standing backstage waiting to come out,” he said.
