Former Transport Secretary Chris Grayling has become the latest MP to announce he will not stand in the next general election.
The former minister is among more than 40 Conservatives who have announced that they will not defend their seat during the vote. is expected next year.
He said he was successfully treated for prostate cancer earlier this year but the diagnosis made him decide “it was time for a change.”
Mr Grayling has been MP for Epsom and Ewell since 2001 and served in the Cameron and May administrations, most recently as Transport Secretary from 2016 to 2019.

In a statement posted on social media, Mr. Grayling, said: “I am writing to inform you that on Wednesday I told the annual general meeting of the Conservative Association that I would no longer be standing for Parliament at the next election.”
“Earlier this year I was given diagnosis of prostate. cancer, and although the treatment was successful, it made me think that after 22 years, it was time for a change. The Association will now move forward and choose my successor as the Conservative candidate.
“I am very grateful to you for the support you have given me over the years. I will obviously continue to work as usual until the election and hope to see you at one of the upcoming events.»
