The new electric car brand launches in the Russian Federation with a compact hatchback and its “sportier” version. Five-door cars will go on sale before the end of autumn.
The plans of the Chinese concern Great Wall Motor (GWM) to launch the “green” Ora brand in Russia became known in July: the head of the local Haval division (this brand is also owned by Great Wall) spoke about this in one of his interviews. So now the appearance of Ora in our market has been officially announced; it will join, in fact, Haweil, the off-road brand Tank and GWM (pickup trucks are sold under this brand). As Kolesa.ru was informed by the external press service of GWM, the new brand in the Russian Federation will be represented by Haval Motor Rus.

Let us remind you that Ora was created in 2018, and exclusively electric cars are produced under it. The brand sells not only in its native China, but also in Southeast Asia, South America and Europe. Today, the range includes the quite distinctive Good Cat hatchback (the Chinese name is Haomao, also known as Funky Cat in Europe), the Ballet Cat compact, similar to the classic VW Beetle, and the large Lightning Cat fastback with a design in the style of a Porsche Panamera. In Russia, the brand will debut with the Good Cat hatch, and for our market the model has been renamed Ora 03. And the five-door will be accompanied by a “sporty” version with the GT prefix.

The Ora 03 is based on the Lemon platform, on which many Haval models are built. The length of the “troika” is 4235 mm, width – 1825 mm, height – 1596 mm (in the Chinese specification, in the European specification the height is 1603 mm). Wheelbase – 2650 mm. The electric hatch has a look with retro motifs and a modern, laconic interior with a scoreboard. The features of the Ora 03 GT are slightly more aggressive bumpers and black and red decor inside.

In Russia, the hatchback will be available with an electric motor producing 171 hp. (installed on the front axle). We have not yet talked about the battery of our version; it is only reported that it will be enough for 500 km of run (which cycle this figure is calculated for is not specified). It is stated that the electric hatch will reach the first “hundred” in 7.6 seconds, the maximum speed is 150 km/h.

Prices and configurations will be revealed closer to the start date of sales. Well, Ora’s full-scale entry into the Russian market should take place before the end of autumn of this year. According to preliminary data, electric cars will be supplied to us directly from China.
Meanwhile, it was previously reported that Great Wall also plans to introduce the premium sub-brand Wey in the Russian Federation.
