The Israel Defense Forces said Saturday it has killed the Hamas commander who led a deadly terrorist attack on Israeli communities bordering the Gaza Strip over the weekend.
The Israeli Air Force announced that Ali Qadi was killed with the help of the Shin Bet intelligence service in an airstrike on a Hamas base, and black-and-white aerial video emerged showing a massive explosion engulfing the compound where he was reportedly being held.
Qadhi was previously arrested in 2005 for kidnapping and killing Israelis, but was released as part of an agreement to release hostages Gilad Shalit.
The deal was struck in 2011 between Israel and Hamas to release Gilad Shalit, an Israeli soldier kidnapped and held captive for five years, in exchange for 1,027 prisoners, mostly Palestinian and Arab-Israeli.

The attack killed Murad Abu Murad, an air force commander in Gaza City who took an active part and led terrorists in Saturday's deadly attack.

Lt. Col. Jonathan Conricus, an IDF spokesman, said Saturday that people in the Gaza Strip are heeding Israel's warning and that there has been a significant movement toward the south.
“We have seen people heed our warning.
We announced our intentions in advance not because there is any military logic in this. but because we want the war not to affect civilians. We did not put these civilians there, and they are not our enemies.»
However, the United Nations and humanitarian organizations, including the Norwegian Refugee Council and Amnesty International, are among those who have called on Israel to abandon participation in the program. his order.
“Moving more than a million people through a densely populated war zone to a place where there is no food, water, or shelter, when the entire area is under siege, is extremely dangerous — and in some cases it is simply impossible,” UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said on Friday.
