A new index has been assigned to the modernized JAC S3 SUV. On the Russian market, the five-door will be offered with a naturally aspirated engine; two trim levels have been announced for the model so far.
In its native China, the JAC S3 SUV with this design debuted back in 2019. The model has already been withdrawn from sales there, but it is still present in foreign markets. In Russia, the restyled crossover was first certified back in 2021, but this five-door only reached us now: the model appeared on the local JAC website, and, as in other countries, in the Russian Federation the updated SUV was renamed JS3. By the way, it is not known exactly where the cars are supplied to us from — directly from China or from the Kazakh plant SaryarkaAvtoProm.

The length of the cross is 4345 mm, which is 20 mm more compared to our pre-reform version. The height, on the contrary, has become smaller by 20 mm – now 1640 mm. The width and wheelbase remained the same — 1765 and 2560 mm, respectively. The certified ground clearance of JAC JS3 is only 155 mm.
External differences between the JS3 and the pre-restyling SUV are two-story head optics (running lights are located on top, the main headlight units are located below), a more impressive radiator grille, different bumpers and taillights. A new front panel and steering wheel were installed in the cabin. In addition, the multimedia system tablet now “floats”, whereas the pre-reform SUV had a screen built into the panel.
According to the JAC website, in Russia the JS3 will be available with a 1.6 naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine producing 109 hp. (150 Nm). At the moment, two trim levels are announced for the model: in the Luxury version, the cross has a six-speed manual transmission, in the Intelligent version it is equipped with a CVT. In any case, the drive is exclusively front-wheel drive.

The JAC JS3 Luxury equipment list includes: LED DRLs, halogen headlights, roof rails, electric drive and heated mirrors, fabric trim, air conditioning, audio system, rear parking sensors, two airbags, ESC and cruise control. The Intelligent version adds soundproofing hood, leather interior, multimedia system, climate control and rear view camera.

There are no prices yet, there is nothing to compare with either: the former S3 has almost disappeared from showrooms, its price list is also no longer posted on the brand’s website. However, the restyled SUV will probably be cheaper than the larger and more prestigious JAC JS6, while the latter in the Russian Federation now costs from 2,929,000 rubles. The start of sales of JS3 will probably be announced in the near future.
