The Japanese brand's pickup truck is available only with a double-row cab, the power unit was not touched, but the update affected the suspension.
The eighth generation Toyota Hilux truck debuted in 2015, the premiere took place in Thailand, and this model underwent an update in 2020. The GR Sport version was introduced in 2021, and the version for the European market appeared in January 2022. Now the company has decided to bring the pickup to the 2024 model year: this “sporty” Hilux received a number of new things, but they did not affect its power unit.

The updated version of the Toyota Hilux GR Sport II differs from the current pickup truck due to the reshaped radiator grille and with a pattern in the form of a grid of horizontally elongated cells. This truck has various darkened decorative elements on the exterior, and red brake calipers are visible behind the wheel rims.
The red and black combination is also used in the interior. Here you can see the GR emblem on the front headrests and the seat belts are red. The list of standard equipment of this pickup includes a new multimedia complex with an eight-inch touchscreen, a navigation system, support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The Hilux GR Sport II continues to be offered only with a double-row cab. During the update for the 2024 model year, the truck received changes to the suspension: thus, the ground clearance increased by 20 mm (to 235 mm), the front track was widened by 140 mm, and the rear by 150 mm. The all-terrain vehicle has new 17-inch alloy wheels and off-road tires. As a result of the changes, the vehicle's approach angle increased from 29 to 30 degrees.
In addition, Toyota has equipped the refreshed, “sportier” Hilux GR Sport II with enlarged front disc brakes. The model also has rear drum brakes that have given way to disc brakes.

There are no changes under the hood of the pickup truck, the equipment is the same, and the “regular” current Hilux. The model is equipped with a 204-horsepower 2.8-liter turbodiesel engine, its maximum torque is 500 Nm. In the GR Sport, this engine is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission, since the “standard” version can also be equipped with a manual transmission.
The European division of Toyota said that orders for the Hilux GR Sport II on the old world market will begin to be accepted in the first half of 2024, and “live” sales will begin in the second half of the year. It is not yet known how the price of the truck will change. The current Hilux GR Sport can be purchased in one of the largest markets in Europe — Germany — for no less than 61,116 euros.
