MOSCOW, June 1 Mixed martial arts fighter (MMA) Jeff Monson said in an interview that he would like to meet with the new Minister of Sports of Russia Mikhail Degtyarev.
«»I haven't met him yet, but I hope to. He has a good reputation and he loves sports, a former athlete,» Monson said.
He also said that he was asked whether he would like to head the Ministry of Sports, but he answered “no,” because he is not familiar enough with sports in Russia and thinks that Degtyarev will definitely do this job better.
The new composition of the government of the Russian Federation was approved by decree of the country's president. At the head of the Ministry of Sports, Degtyarev replaced Oleg Matytsin. Previously, the functionary was the governor of the Khabarovsk Territory, he is a master of sports in fencing.
