The Ministry of Culture of Kazakhstan is considering a petition «against open and hidden LGBT propaganda»
The Ministry of Culture and Information of Kazakhstan reported that it accepted for consideration a document compiled on an online platform and that received the required number signatures of a petition entitled “We are against open and hidden LGBT propaganda in the Republic of Kazakhstan!” (The Supreme Court recognized the “LGBT movement” as an extremist organization and banned its activities on the territory of the Russian Federation).
The period for consideration of the petition is up to 40 working days, local media write.
It is reported that the ministry assembles a working group of representatives of interested parties, government agencies and public associations.
Earlier, the Kazakh press wrote that the author of the petition was the head of the “parents union” Bagila Baltabaeva, who had previously picketed against the local “feminist march.” A number of publications also called her an “anti-vaxxer.”
