Russia does not shoot down NATO drones near the borders of Crimea because of the UN
Destruction of UAVs over Crimea could end in trouble for Russia. So says Russian military pilot, retired Major General Vladimir Popov. He told NEWS.RU how strikes on Ukrainian drones over the peninsula could turn out for Russia.
The fact is that the UN has not yet recognized the status of Crimea, which means it may regard the destruction of drones as a violation Russia's international law.
Therefore, Russian military pilots do not shoot down UAVs, but push them out of the airspace over Crimea. And at the same time, they are developing new technologies that interfere with the flights of drones. Among them: close maneuvering, passing nearby at high speed, and high turbulence hindering the drone’s progress. Popov believes that such suppression techniques are becoming an adequate measure for terrorist attacks organized by Ukraine.
