The new product, the appearance of which was declassified last spring, will take the place of the brand's flagship.
The revival of the Russian Moskvich brand became known in the spring of 2022. In May, information appeared that the production of cars under this brand would be established at the facilities of the former Renault plant located in the capital of the Russian Federation. The assembly line of the enterprise, which switched to full-cycle production in May, is currently producing the Moskvich 3 SUV, its fully electric version Moskvich 3e and the Moskvich 6 liftback. Later, the line will be expanded, one of the new products will be the flagship Moskvich 8 crossover.
Now the SUV has already appeared on a large general banner with brand products on the official Moskvich website. Earlier, the company noted that the cars should appear at dealers by the end of this year. As Autonews.ru reports with reference to the brand's press service, according to the plan, sales of the new crossover with the number eight as an index should begin this coming fall, in October.

The appearance, interior and technical characteristics of the Moskvich 8 were officially declassified in April. The “donor” for this crossover was another car from the Chinese company JAC – this time the X8 Plus. The model debuted on the home market in 2022, while in the Middle Kingdom it was sold under the Sehol sub-brand (JAC later abandoned this brand). As Kolesa.ru told earlier, X8 Plus is an upgraded version of “simply” X8 (in export markets – JS8).
The overall length of the flagship G8 is 4825 mm, width – 1870 mm, height – 1756 mm, and the distance between the axles – 2830 mm. So in terms of size, Moskvich’s new product is comparable to the Kia Sorento.
The model received a large radiator grille, LED head optics of a complex shape, traditional exterior mirrors and regular door handles, wheel arch trims made of unpainted plastic, as well as lights connected to each other by a luminous strip across the entire width of the tailgate.
Moskvich 8 was equipped with a virtual tidy and a touchscreen infotainment system (with support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto), their diagonal is 12.3 inches . In addition, the list includes all-round cameras, as well as a wireless charging function for smartphones.

The new crossover of the Russian brand will be offered with a 174-horsepower petrol GDI engine, which is paired with a seven-speed robotic gearbox. At the same time, its volume was not specified during the April presentation, but we should expect that this is the same 1.5-liter turbo engine with which the “donor” is offered in China. All-wheel drive is most likely not provided for the G8.
