NOVOSIBIRSK, July 2The Siberian State University of Telecommunications and Informatics, as part of the Priority 2030 program, plans to open a space research center in the fall with the prospect of launching its own satellite into orbit, the university reported on Tuesday.
The university (SibGUTI, Ministry of Digital Development of the Russian Federation) noted that for Russia with its vast territories, high-speed communication channels at any point without reference to ground-based telecommunications infrastructure based on low-orbit satellites are extremely necessary. The launched federal project «Sphere», which includes the development of satellite constellations in various orbits, requires the training of specialists in this area.
The report says that the center involves creating a laboratory that will allow receiving, recognizing and analyzing satellite signals, as well as creating artificial intelligence systems to compile a database of these satellites, their parameters and signals, because the transmitters of each spacecraft are “unique, like fingerprints.” .
At the second stage, it is planned to open a student design bureau to create and launch their own satellites into orbit.
«Our goal is to create our own satellite, certify it, launch it and then, through the established space research center, monitor its flight, engage in experimental work related to conducting communication sessions through this satellite. The scientific component is already connected there very much powerful,” said Vyacheslav Kalinin, associate professor of the department of digital television and radio broadcasting and radio communication systems of SibGUTI.
