However, it’s difficult to call this five-door a completely new model: the twin SUV Cupra Tavascan will be sold under the German brand.
< p>The Volkswagen ID.Unyx electric cross-coupe appeared in certification photographs for the Chinese Ministry of Industry back in March. And in April, at the Beijing Motor Show, it was officially announced that the SUV would become the first-born of a new “green” line called ID.UX, which, as you might guess, is addressed to the Middle Kingdom. At the same time, the public premiere of the model was held. True, at the exhibition the crossover was placed in a glass “box”. So, now VW has begun the active stage of promoting the new product: a separate website has been launched, branded images and videos have been published.
The VW ID.Unyx is not created from scratch — it is a clone of the Cupra Tavascan. But the design is still rethought. The cross-coupe of the German brand has different bumpers, diode filling has been replaced in the headlights and lanterns. ID.Unyx length is 4663 mm, width – 1860 mm, height – 1610 mm. For comparison, Tavascan dimensions: 4644/1861/1597 mm. The wheelbase of the cars is the same — 2766 mm.
The interior of the German SUV has not yet been shown. However, the ubiquitous spies have already managed to look into the salon. Inside, it will generally repeat the original model: the VW ID.Unyx will have a similar front panel, separate screens for the instrument panel and multimedia system.

Chinese media write that the Volkswagen crossover will be offered in two modifications. The base ID.Unyx will have a 231-horsepower electric motor on the rear axle. Expensive versions have dual-motor all-wheel drive and a total power of 340 hp. According to preliminary data, a battery with a capacity of 82.4 kWh is provided for the new VW product.

Production of the ID.Unyx crossover will be established in China at the Volkswagen Anhui plant, built together with the JAC company (now Volkswagen owns 75% of the shares of the joint venture). A full presentation will be held soon.
