The British brand has not yet confirmed that the show car will form the basis of a commercial “closed” two-door, which will eventually turn out to be on the conveyor.
The British brand MG, owned by the Chinese concern SAIC, took quite a long time to create the first new sports car in many years. Thus, the MG Cyberster roadster, announced in 2017, debuted in April 2021 at the Shanghai Motor Show, while in the status of a concept. The production version of the model was declassified in the summer of 2023, and its production started in November. Now the manufacturer is thinking about the possibility of expanding the line with a closed version.

At the Goodwood Festival of Speed (UK), which opened its doors today, the MG brand brought another concept, this time the Cyber GTS coupe played its role. This show car, most likely, can form the basis of the brand’s future production coupe, but the manufacturer is not yet ready to officially confirm the information that such a sports car will join the sports family.
The conceptual two-door MG Cyber GTS shared most of the body elements with the roadster, including those that make up the front part. The new product has the same stampings on the hood, “drop-shaped” headlights, a plug with a logo in place of the traditional radiator grille, as well as a bifurcated air intake with a mesh pattern with large cells.
At the same time, the Cyber GTS has a hard, non-transformable roof (unlike the roadster with a soft top). The creators are keeping the interior of the concept a secret for now: the electric car shown at Goodwood has it hidden using “dull” tinting. We can assume that it will be almost identical to the interior of the current MG Cyberster. In this case, in front of the driver there will be a steering wheel with a truncated rim, as well as a curved virtual panoramic instrument panel consisting of three displays.
The company did not say anything about the MG Cyber GTS technology. Probably, the concept could also share the “filling” with the serial roadster, which is based on the Nebula platform developed by SAIC. The starting version has one 314-horsepower electric motor located on the rear axle; this sports car is equipped with a traction battery with a capacity of 64 kWh. The middle version also has rear-wheel drive with a 340-horsepower electric motor and a battery with a capacity of 77 kWh. The top-end all-wheel drive version received the same battery and a dual-motor installation, the total output of which is 544 hp. 1/3 2/3 3/3
Note that today the MG brand also presented the next generation HS crossover. The new product is a clone of the relatively fresh Chinese SUV Roewe RX5 (the Roewe brand is also owned by SAIC). Such HS will begin to be delivered to the British market this month (prices are known), and other European countries will receive the cars this coming fall. By the way, the crossover – albeit in the pre-reform version of the first generation – will be brought to Russia.
