The Ram frame truck is addressed to Latin America, where the model is offered in several versions. But it’s not possible to choose the engine yet.
The brochure for the new Ram 1200 pickup truck leaked online back in May. But only now is it officially presented. The debut took place in Mexico, which became the first market for the model. Let us remind you that in the Ram range there was already a truck with the index 1200 — a twin of the old Mitsubishi L200 and Fiat Fullback. The new pickup truck was not developed from scratch, and it also has several brothers. Thus, the current frame Ram 1200 is a reimagined Peugeot Landtrek, which, in turn, was created together with Changan. The Chinese company’s line includes several varieties: Kaicene F70 (aka Changan Hunter in export markets) and Changan Lantop (in Russia it’s Changan Hunter Plus). Finally, a similar truck is produced under the Fiat brand — the “Italian” is named Titano.

The new Ram 1200 differs from its relatives in the design of its front end: it has its own radiator grille. Of course, the emblems and nameplates were also replaced. In Mexico, the pickup truck is offered in several modifications. The base Ram 1200 Tradesman comes with a single- or double-cab, and the truck has an unpainted front bumper. The more expensive versions of Bighorn and Laramie are exclusively four-door, they have a body-colored body kit, plus the decorative insert on the grille is generously covered with chrome, and on the sides of it there are beveled strips of running lights. Inside, the Ram pickup generally repeated the models from Peugeot and Fiat.
The list of equipment of the rich Ram 1200 Bighorn includes fog lights, rear parking sensors, a multimedia system with a 10-inch tablet that rises above the front panel, a rear view camera, and six airbags. The top version of the Laramie has a leather interior, climate control, all-round cameras, front parking sensors and a lane tracking system.

There is only one engine – a 2.4 petrol turbo-four with a power of 210 hp. (Peugeot Landtrek, for example, also has diesel engines). The Ram 1200 Tradesman comes with a six-speed manual, while the Bighorn and Laramie are offered with a six-speed automatic. Only the top version has a rigidly connected all-wheel drive, the other versions are rear-wheel drive.

Orders are already open in Mexico: the basic Ram 1200 costs from 444,900 pesos (about 2.2 million rubles at the current course), for the all-wheel drive Ram 1200 Laramie you will need to pay at least 668,900 pesos (approximately 3.3 million rubles). Local media write that the production of the pickup truck has been established in China. Later, the Ram 1200 should reach other Latin American countries.
