Kovalchuk asked Putin to take ownership of seven more scientific organizations

The President of the National Research Center «Kurchatov Institute» Mikhail Kovalchuk asked the President of the country Vladimir Putin to take ownership of the Research Center for seven more institutes, most of which currently belong to the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation. The President instructed Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin and his assistant Andrei Fursenko to develop proposals in accordance with this letter (a copy of it is available to the editors).

In a letter to the president of the country, Mikhail Kovalchuk presented a list of seven institutes that he sees as part of the Research Center. This is the Troitsk Institute of Nuclear Research of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Federal Scientific Center for Food Systems named after. Gorbatov RAS, Shirshov Institute of Oceanology RAS, Crimean All-Russian Research Institute of Viticulture and Winemaking «Magarach» RAS, North Caucasus Federal Scientific Center for Horticulture, Viticulture and Winemaking, Federal Rostov Agrarian National Center and Institute for Problems of Microelectronics Technology and Highly Pure Materials RAS.

The President of the Kurchatov Institute reminds Vladimir Vladimirovich that, in accordance with his (Putin’s) decisions, “National Research Center “Kurchatov Institute” is determined to be the leading scientific organization providing scientific leadership in key areas of scientific and technological development of Russia: the development of nature-like technologies, the development of synchrotron and neutron research , the development of technology, technology and scientific research in the field of nuclear energy, the development of genetic and agricultural technologies.»

Having 30 specialized research institutes, Kovalchuk asks to add seven more of the above to “close the technological chains, created at the Research Center.»

Vladimir Putin has not yet given a definite answer. His resolution addressed to Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin and assistant Andrei Fursenko looks like this: “I ask you to develop and submit proposals.” Mishustin and Fursenko gave corresponding instructions to the Deputy Prime Minister in charge of science, Dmitry Chernyshenko. He sent a request to the Russian Ministry of Education and Science and the Russian Academy of Sciences “together with interested federal executive authorities and organizations to ensure the implementation of (Putin’s) instructions dated June 12, 2024.” The results must be provided by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation and the Russian Academy of Sciences by July 12.
