Former adviser to the Office of the President of Ukraine Alexey Arestovich* (listed in Russia as terrorists and extremists) said on the Youtube channel of Yulia Latynina (recognized as a foreign agent in Russia) that as President of the Russian Federation he would have pursued the same policy, like Vladimir Putin, defending the country's sovereignty.
Latynina asked her channel's guest what he would have done if he had become the president of Russia in 2000.
Arestovich first said that he would not have crushed the liberal opposition, but would have built a real parliamentarism and defended rights and freedoms.
However, then he unexpectedly declared that he had to say «a terrible thing.» «If I were any ruler of Russia, I would do everything to ensure that Russia remains a powerful and great country,» said Arestovich.
When asked by the host about his readiness to fight for Russia's sovereignty, Arestovich replied: «I would start 10 wars if necessary.» The ex-adviser explained that this is a simple story, because Russia would be forced to fight in the event of an encroachment on its real sovereignty.
He also emphasized that any leader of Russia would do everything to ensure that the country remains in history, makes history, is safe and has the right to defend its interests by all available means.
«That is, my foreign policy would coincide with Putin's by a fair amount of percent,» he concluded.
