NALCHIK, July 22 The Magistrate Court in Nalchik fined eight residents of Kabardino-Balkaria for disrespecting the anthem Russia, reported the joint press service of the republic’s judicial system.

“The magistrates of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic received nine materials under Art. 17.10 Code of Administrative Offenses of Russia («Violation of the procedure for the official use of <…> the National Anthem of the Russian Federation»). To date, the magistrate of judicial district No. 1 of the Nalchik judicial district has brought eight people to administrative responsibility, <…> imposing on them an administrative penalty in the form of a fine in the amount of three thousand rubles,” the statement says.
The press service added that another case will be considered in the near future.
In early July, videos from school No. 33 in Nalchik appeared on social networks. According to this footage, some parents of students did not stand up for the solemn performance during the Russian anthem, but remained in their seats in the assembly hall, while several people were sitting on their phones.
The head of the State Duma Defense Committee, Andrei Kartapolov, drew attention to the publication. He said that he had contacted “the appropriate authorities” to consider this incident in order to assess and make a procedural decision.
