The German company is preparing a restyling for its flagship electric crossover, as evidenced by spy photos of camouflaged prototypes. We presented what the new product will look like.
The mid-size crossover iX was declassified in the summer of 2021; it is a production version of the Vision iNext concept, demonstrated in September 2018 at the Paris Motor Show. Thus, this year the model turned three years old, and this is the standard period for preparing an updated version. Test samples have already been seen on the roads during testing, and there is already an opportunity to see the external differences of the restyled crossover.

First of all, a radical change in the appearance of the SUV, which is quite original in design, is not expected; the changes will be more of a cosmetic nature. One of the most noticeable differences is the new front optics, which will retain their shape, but will receive new content and graphics of LED running lights in the form of a pair of vertical segments in each headlight. We previously saw something similar on the updated models of the 1st and 4th series. The radiator grille will most likely not change in shape, but the bumper will be completely new with a characteristic central “divider” at the bottom, like on the new BMW M5. On the side, no significant changes are expected; at the rear, you can count on an updated bumper, while the lights, judging by the spy photos, will remain the same.

The iX crossover is based on a modified modular CLAR platform. During the restyling, it will receive an increase in power for all its versions, as well as new names: the xDrive40 model will be replaced by xDrive45, xDrive50 will be replaced by xDrive60, and instead of the top modification iX M60, the iX M70 will appear. An increase in power reserve is also expected.

The premiere of the new product may take place before the end of this year.
