MOSCOW, July 24. The appeal court has overturned the in absentia verdict in the case of fakes about the Russian Armed Forces against director Ivan Vyrypaev, law enforcement agencies reported.
«The sentence was overturned and sent to court for reconsideration,» the agency's source said.
The source specified that the Moscow City Court made this decision due to violations during the consideration of the case in the district court.
According to the portal of the courts of general jurisdiction of Moscow, Vyrypaev's case has already been received by the Basmanny District Court.
In December, Vyrypaev was sentenced in absentia to 8 years in a general regime colony, with a ban on activities related to website administration for a period of 4 years.
The investigation established that from March to December 2022, Vyrypaev publicly disseminated false information on the Internet under the guise of reliable information about the use of the Russian Armed Forces to destroy civilian infrastructure and kill civilians during the SVO.
Since Vyrypaev hid from the investigation and trial outside of Russia, he was put on the international wanted list.
