The family of Dmitry Savelyev, a senator from the Tula region who was detained on Friday, was preparing for his birthday at the time of his detention. On Saturday, August 3, the politician will turn 56.

According to the publication, the senator's wife and children went to buy him a gift.

Earlier, Savelyev's wife Olga told her subscribers on social networks about her plans to prepare for the celebration.

She said that the family went to buy gifts for dad.

Earlier, the wife of Dmitry Savelyev, a member of the Federation Council who was detained in Moscow on Friday on suspicion of organizing a contract killing, said that her husband warned her about upcoming problems and asked her not to come to Russia from abroad, where their children are studying.

The senator's wife said that she did not even imagine that this was related to the criminal case. She also called the incident a “misunderstanding” and suggested that her husband could have been set up.
