KALININGRAD, August 3 Rotavirus has led to mass poisoning of children at the Ogonyok camp in Svetlogorsk near Kaliningrad; the shift was closed early, the regional office of Rospotrebnadzor reported.
In the children's camp «Ogonyok» 32 children aged 10 to 16 sought medical help, five of them were hospitalized.
“The department promptly, using express methods, received the results of a study of clinical material from sick children and swabs from environmental objects. It was established that the etiological agent is rotavirus,” the message says.
Rospotrebnadzor explained that the disease occurs mainly in a mild form. The condition of the children is not in danger, and anti-epidemic measures and investigations in the camp continue.
«The shift's work has been suspended early. The children have been picked up by their parents,» the department concluded.
Earlier on Saturday, Rospotrebnadzor reported that the camp had not taken measures to isolate and remove the first cases from the team, risking the spread of the infection.
Acting Governor of the Kaliningrad Region Alexei Besprozvannykh also reported that the situation is under the control of the Kaliningrad administration, Rospotrebnadzor and the Ministry of Education.
