PARIS, August 7 Former host of the famous Fort Boyard TV game show and other French TV shows Patrice Laffont has died at the age of 84, France Bleu radio reports.

«Patrice Laffont died of a heart attack on Wednesday morning at his home in (the commune. — Ed.) Oppede,» the radio station reported, citing the mayor of the commune.
Laffont's wife called an ambulance. He would have turned 85 on August 21.
From 1972 to 1989, Laffont was the face of one of the most popular TV games in France, Des chiffres et des lettres («Numbers and Letters»), the suspension of which was announced only in May 2024. In the 1990s, he hosted «Fort Boyard» and the popular program «Pyramid».
In addition to his career on television, Laffont participated in filming films and theatrical productions. For example, he played a cameo role in the 1964 film «The Gendarme of Saint-Tropez».
Fort Boyard first aired on French television in the summer of 1990. Since then, 34 countries have filmed their national versions of the show. The adventure project was filmed at the fort of the same name, built by order of Napoleon near the city of La Rochelle. According to the game's legend, for 200 years, the old man Fura hid money in the fortress's treasury. And to open it, the heroes must find keys hidden in rooms with traps and assemble a password.
