According to Reuters, cash dollars and euros worth $2.3 billion were imported into Russia, despite the ban that the US and EU introduced in March 2022 after the start of conflict in Ukraine.
The customs data cited by the agency was obtained from an unnamed “commercial supplier that records such information.” It is reported that the currency came to Russia from Turkey, the UAE and a number of other countries that did not join trade sanctions against Russia. More than half of the cash came from a country that is not disclosed in customs records.

According to him, the European Commission comes into contact with third parties if there are suspicions of circumvention of sanctions. The data referred to by Reuters refers to the period from March 2022 to December 2023.
